I don’t want my kids exposed to a narrow picture of God.

Did your vision of God expand beyond the box your church built for you? It happens more often than you might think. We tend to put God in a box, and then worship the box. We build context, ritual, and reality around the box, and forsake all other boxes. In a positive light, these boxes help us make meaning and frame our worlds. In a negative light, if we hold our boxes too tightly, they imprison us and we miss the deeper experience of our unlimited God.

For children, this dynamic is important. Young minds need boxes for today, but box-trading skills for tomorrow.

At NRCC, we teach our children what we know of God today. We also teach them to stay open to an ever-expanding experience of God. We try to model openness for our children as we teach them about the Bible and about the Inner Voice of God’s Spirit. We do our best to teach them about their need to stay close to God to discern their life-path.

If you left the church because its God-box was too small, consider NRCC. Both you and your children may come as you are. We’ll listen to your experiences of God, and we’ll share ours with you as well.
