God has let me down one time too many.

You live on this planet so you know that the earth can be a cruel and hurtful place. Some really bad stuff happens! And when good people give their lives to God, when they serve God, honor God, and sacrifice for God, it would seem that God should do a little better job watching over them. Sometimes, we can’t help but feel disappointed, even abandoned.

If God is truly good, why would he…

  • Allow an innocent child to suffer
  • Not give us a spouse to love
  • Let us lose a loved one to an early death
  • Allow murder, rape, financial ruin, and all manner of horribleness happen

And when we feel abandoned by God, many become non-practicing Christians.

  • They leave the church.
  • They stop talking to God.
  • They stop pursuing the spiritual journey.

At NRCC, we get that. In fact, many of us have been in that very place.

However, along the way, we have also discovered some deeper realities:

  • God doesn’t go away just because we ignore him.
  • The deep wounds from which these hard questions emerge can be healed.
  • There are truths and experiences that trump a sense of abandonment.

And we discovered this by continuing to seek the Divine, while suffering the pains of life together.

At NRCC, we are quite comfortable when one another are furious at God, doubting God, or ignoring God. However, we have found that if we can be honest with our struggles and share them with one another, our souls move forward. When we’re together, we don’t remain stuck quite as long.

If you’ve left the church frustrated with God, if you are feeling alone, consider NRCC. We understand this part of the journey and we’d love you to join us.
