Church people are judgmental.

You’re right. Church-folk can be judgmental, self-righteous, and sometimes just plain mean. You’ve felt it. Sometimes, we Christians are our own worst enemies.

It begins with the best intentions to do the right thing, to be godly. But somehow along the way, we fall into the trap of self-righteousness, judgmentalism, and intolerance.

Most of us are insecure about the condition of our souls, feeling deep inside that we’re flawed. We compensate by seeking approval from our Christian community, and by jumping through “good-people” hoops. And once we do, it’s just a small step before we start feeling spiritually superior to the people who don’t hoop-jump as well as we do. What a shame; how far we’ve drifted from the life and message of Jesus.

Many who have felt the brunt of Christian judgment have left the church altogether. You might be one of them. We can’t blame you. However, the downside of leaving the church is isolation, and our souls don’t thrive in isolation.

NRCC is a spiritual community where we bring our fears and insecurities before God. We’re opening ourselves up with one another in authentic transparency. We’re recognizing the damage our judgments have inflicted on one another, and we’re learning to accept ourselves and others.

We find God better together than we do alone. Would you like to join us?
